Yoga & Movement Therapy

I offer private yoga therapy - embodiment practices - based in ancient tantric healing systems, infused with and informed by somatic trauma healing, polyvagal theory, modern medical sciences, including myofascial dynamics, neuroscience, osteopathy, and more.

Whether you are a total beginner or a practitioner with 50+ years of experience, I can support you.

"Alex is genuinely interested in how the body and the subtle bodies interact with one another. And he is genuinely interested in improving his understanding of presenting issues and in trying to solve the mysteries at the roots of imbalance. Because he is so engaged, you feel held and supported in a unique way when working with him. He is fully present and inquisitive and you never feel like he is 'just doing his job'."

- Isa Gucciardi, Ph. D.
Author & Teacher

Many of us are dissociated from our bodies and are caught in abstractions; we are caught in states of mind in which we are carried away and pulled apart by narratives. We could say that we are lost in a story about life rather than directly experiencing life.

The immediate antidote to this state of abstraction is to bring our attention into, to ground-down into, the body and the breath - to get in touch with this precious body which connects us to the Earth and other beings and mediates our experience of reality. That is the first step.

From there, we start to liberate energies so that we have more vibrancy, lucidity, and brightness in our life and more creative potential and energy. Then, gradually, from there we can begin to increase our power, efficacy, and agency.

All of this is accomplished through very simple - and endlessly complex - therapeutic breathing and moving exercises.

My approach is first and foremost drawn from years of study with Mary Taylor, Richard Freeman and Nancy Gilgoff. I also draw from Tibetan yogas, classical hatha yoga, Shaivite tantrism, Krishnamacarya's lineages including Iyengar and Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga, and more. My teachers include His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Dr. Nida Chenagtsang, Maty Ezraty, Joan White, Mary Reilly Nichols, and many more.

I have incorporated my own techniques and modalities based on my experience in transformative bodywork, including: osteopathy, somatics, somatic experiencing, resistance-release, Trager perspectives, myofascial structural integration, polyvagal theory, and more.
All of this is to clear obstacles that are stuck in the body, to purify the body: the physical body, emotional body, mental body, and the energy body, which may refer to the morphogenetic fields underlying the flow of quantum particles which manifest into phenomena.

This depends on what your existing practice is (or isn't).

It is only necessary that you have a body and that you are breathing.

I can work with total beginners.

Even if you've never heard of yoga before, we can work together.

On the other hand, the sky is the limit:

If you have been practicing for 50 years or more, there is probably still some way that I can support you. This is not to suggest that I know something that you don't; but, I may have some different perspectives.

First, we will consider the current state of your body, mind, and life, and what your aspirations are. Then, we will explore postures, movements, breathing, and accompanying contemplative practices which will serve you in the moment and orient you toward your aspiration.

Please set up a free initial discussion to see if we are a good fit for each other.

Generally, 1 hour sessions have been the most fruitful. Depending on your disposition and preference, this can be adjusted.

I am currently working with clients remotely via Zoom or similar platform.

I also offer services in several locations:

Burlington, Vermont

Westchester, New York

Miami, Florida

Tampa, Florida

San Francisco, California

Munich, Germany

Lake Tegernsee, Germany

Deia, Spain

and more

For information please contact me.
